Getting Started

Start with one objective, build your stakeholder map, and refine it as you learn.

The workflow

Most work in Simtee follows the same basic flow:

  1. Dashboard — Create a workspace for one clear objective or campaign.
  2. Setup — Set the scope, choose what you want to track, and invite collaborators.
  3. Table — Build the working map. Add actors and relationships, record what you know, and update scores as your understanding changes.
  4. Matrix — Compare actors at a glance and see who may need the most attention.
  5. Network — Look at how actors connect and where influence may travel.
  6. AI Actions — Use optional AI tools to research actors and relationships or generate an insight brief.

All three views use the same workspace data, so you can move between them without maintaining separate versions of the map.

What the scores mean

Quantitative scores along four dimensions help Simtee organize and visualize your stakeholder map. They help describe an actor in relation to your objective and can change as the situation develops or you learn more. Your judgment will determine the numbers. For best results, try to use the full range of scores.

Influence (0–5)
How much the actor can affect the outcome, from none (0) to decisive (5).
Salience (0–5)
How much the issue matters to the actor, from irrelevant (0) to essential (5).
Alignment (−2 to +2)
Where the actor stands in relation to your objective, from strongly opposed (−2) to strongly supportive (+2).
Access (0–5)
How directly your team can reach or engage the actor, from no access (0) to direct (5).

Frequently asked questions

What should I put in my first map?

Choose one clear objective: a policy outcome, campaign, or project. Add a few people or organizations that can affect it, record what you know, and build out their relationships. You can start small and refine the map as your understanding grows.

How many workspaces can I have?

Each workspace represents one objective or campaign. Workspace, actor, member, and AI allowances depend on the plan; see Plans for current limits and which tiers are available.

Do I need to enter everything three times?

No. Table, Matrix, and Network are views of the same saved map. Update an actor or relationship once and that change is available across the views.

Can I import a spreadsheet or use existing notes?

Use CSV import in Setup to bring in stakeholder rows and match columns to your workspace fields. For unstructured notes or documents, Notes to Data can propose actors and relationships for review. Notes to Data uses AI credits; check the confirmation before running it.

How should I decide the scores?

Score actors in relation to your objective using the definitions above. Apply a consistent scale across the map, record evidence or reasoning, and revise scores when circumstances change. The numbers support your judgment; they do not measure a person's importance in every situation.

Do I have to use AI?

No. You can enter stakeholders, scores, notes, and relationships manually and use the map views without AI. Optional AI actions can suggest actors, enrich existing information, research relationships, and draft Insight Briefs. Suggestions require your review before they change the map.

What is the difference between Gemini and Gemini + Search?

Gemini works with the map information supplied to the action. Gemini + Search adds web research and citations for external context. The confirmation shows available modes and their costs. Notes to Data works from your supplied material without Search. In either mode, review the output and check its evidence before relying on it.

How do AI credits work?

Credits are a monthly workspace allowance shared by its members. Before an AI run, the confirmation shows the scope, mode, cost, and remaining credits. Bulk actions depend on the number of eligible items. If credits run out, you can continue manual mapping and use AI again after the monthly reset or an eligible upgrade.

Who can see my workspace, and how can I share it?

Workspace members can see its content. Invitations and read-only viewer links depend on the workspace's plan. Anyone with a viewer link can view the map until you revoke it, so review the content before sharing. A viewer link does not allow editing.

What can I export?

You can export the Table as CSV or copy it, and save the Network as an image. Insight Brief and whole-map PDF exports depend on your plan. Review any generated analysis and the information included before sharing an export.

What happens if I downgrade or reach a plan limit?

A downgrade does not delete your workspace data. You can keep working with existing actors; adding more may pause when the map is at its new limit. Member capacity, AI allowances, PDF exports, and viewer links also follow the effective workspace plan. See Terms for the full plan-change policy.

How can I export my personal data or delete my account?

Both controls are in Account settings on the dashboard. Deleting your account removes sole-member workspaces; shared workspaces remain for their other members and your membership is removed. See Privacy for retention details and how to make a privacy request.
